These cinnamon snowflakes are not only beautiful to look at, but also incredibly tasty! With their aromatic cinnamon filling and crispy puff pastry, they are perfect for the cold season - whether as a dessert, snack or eye-catcher on the coffee table. Easy to prepare and ideal for sharing.
Roll out the first puff pastry on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Mix the softened butter, brown sugar and cinnamon well in a bowl until you have a spreadable mixture.
Spread the first puff pastry evenly with the cinnamon filling.
Carefully place the second puff pastry on top of the first so that both layers are on top of each other.
Shaping the snowflake
Place a small bowl or cup in the middle of the puff pastry and press down lightly to mark a visible circle. This circle serves as a guide for carving and should not be cut through.
Make evenly spaced cuts (approx. 3 cm) from the outer edge of the puff pastry to the marked circle. You should end up with 16 to 20 strips arranged around the circle.
Carefully roll each of the cut strips once or twice to create a twisted shape. This gives the snowflake its characteristic appearance.
Baking
Brush the finished snowflake with vegan cream or plant-based drink to give it a golden color in the oven.
Preheat the oven to 200 °C (top/bottom heat).
Bake the snowflake for about 15 minutes until it is golden brown and the smell of cinnamon fills the kitchen.
Leave the snowflake to cool slightly and serve lukewarm.
Notes
Tip: The snowflake can be varied as desired - try it with jam or a hazelnut and chocolate spread as a filling!
