Favorite pastry: Cinnamon buns

This cinnamon bun recipe is a firm favorite with me. I bake cinnamon buns almost every time I visit my family. Because they are everyone's absolute favorite. As a big fan of yeast dough recipes of all kinds, this recipe is my top favorite when it comes to baking!
The whole process, from kneading the dough to waiting for the yeast to rise to baking, is simply fun and spreads a delicious aroma in the kitchen. These cinnamon buns are perfect for cozy and relaxed afternoons.

Equipment

  • 1 Baking dish (springform pan or casserole dish) or baking tray

Ingredients

These Ingredients make:

10 Cinnamon buns
  • 7 g Dry yeast or 20 g fresh yeast
  • 250 ml lukewarm oat milk
  • 2 Tbsp Applesauce
  • 50 g Sugar or sugar substitute
  • 80 g vegan butter or margarine
  • 500 g Wheat flour
  • 1 Pinch Salt

Filling

  • 2 Tbsp Cinnamon
  • 100 g Margarine
  • 60 g Sugar or sugar substitute

In addition

  • 50 ml Oat Cream Cuisine or oat milk

Instructions
 

Prepare the dough

  1. Dissolve the dry yeast in lukewarm oat milk and leave to rest briefly.
  2. Add the apple sauce, sugar, vegan butter or margarine and mix well.
  3. Add the wheat flour and a pinch of salt and knead everything into a smooth dough.
  4. Cover the dough and leave it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until it has doubled in volume.

Prepare the filling

  1. In a bowl, mix the cinnamon, margarine and sugar into a smooth paste.

Shaping cinnamon buns

  1. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  2. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the pastry.
  3. Cut the dough into approx. 10 equal strips.
  4. Roll up the strips into snails one after the other.

Bake and enjoy

  1. Place the cinnamon buns in a greased baking tin with a little space between them.
  2. Spread the oat cream cuisine or oat milk on the snails.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (fan oven) for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Remove the cinnamon buns from the oven and leave to cool briefly.
  5. Serve warm and enjoy!
