Here I share a simple recipe for homemade pita bread. You can make delicious, fresh pita bread at home with just a few ingredients. Preparation from the pan is very easy and you don't have to bake anything. Perfect for sandwiches, wraps or as a side dish to your favorite dishes. I make this recipe very often because it's always nice to have another bread as a side dish.
Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water and then add the maple syrup and salt. Stir well and leave to stand for a few minutes until the yeast is activated. (small air bubbles form)
Gradually stir in the flour and knead into a smooth dough.
Cover the dough and leave to rise in a warm place for about 2 hours until it has doubled in volume.
Divide and roll out the dough
Divide the dough into hand-sized portions and shape into round balls. Roll out each ball into a thin circle on a lightly floured surface.
Fry the pita bread in a hot pan until golden brown on both sides. This usually only takes a few minutes per side as the loaves rise and form a characteristic pocket.
Enjoy
Enjoy the homemade pita bread fresh from the pan.
Fill them with your favorite ingredients and experience the delicious taste of freshly made pita bread!
